24th and 25th Treatments ( June 14th & July 5th)
Just finished my last Herceptin infusion for a total of 25 therapy treatments. It’s a great feeling to have that last one done and moving forward to full recovery plus thinking of something else. This coming week, I have my echocardiogram to confirm no change in heart functionality as there is a slight chance with this treatment. I also have my port removed on Friday. It’s an outpatient surgery with a low sedative, local anesthesia and about 20 minutes of actual surgery. So long my little port friend.
Thanks to everyone that supported me over the last 15 months. I can’t begin to thank you enough for all of the encouragement and just overall strength you provided by reaching out to me and my family. You guys are the best family and friends anyone could ever want in life. For the last treatment, my immediate family was together for the 4th of July and we were able to celebrate together. It was so much fun with all of my sisters and brothers including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and of course Carey and the boys. They made it very memorable, but always too short.
I’m in the midst of ordering more t-shirts and hats as I have zero left and a function next week. My petition didn’t end up getting promoted to the White House as I didn’t reach the signature goal. As my good neighbor and friend said, hey your video reached over 10,000 people so awareness is spreading. That comment made me rethink the mission of this cause and now the small committee is formed to help set the vision and milestones. More to come….
